Coaching You to the Presidency

A Practical, Virtual Workshop to Prepare you for your Presidential Search

Coaching You to the Presidency is designed to take the mystery out of the presidential search process and prepare you for a successful search start. This is the only program where you have an advocate, someone working for you equipping you for a successful search. The eight-week workshop covers the following topics:

– Understanding the why and where for a college presidency.
– What a president needs to know about enrollment management: Interviews with a Vice President for Enrollment Management
– What a president needs to know about the Search Process and working with Finance: Lessons from a Former Search Consultant and Interviews with a CFO
– What a president needs to know about Advancement and working with the Board: Interviews with an Advancement VP and Board Chair
– What a president needs to know about Student Success and working with Faculty: Interviews with a Provost and Vice President for Student Life
– What a president needs to know about Contemporary Issues (IT, DEI, Title IX): Discussion with a Panel of Experts

Individual sessions will help participants understand their motivations for the presidency, areas they might need additional experience or work, and refining the answers to the questions, “Why do you want to be a president?” and “What is your leadership style?”

Outcomes of the workshop include the following:

1) Completion of a strong letter of interest, vetted by an experienced search consultant, that addresses the Presidential Profile criteria.
2) Deeper understanding of key topics related to the presidency based on current research.
3) Strong answers to commonly asked interview questions, based on research and personal experience, written by you, and critiqued by experts in the field.
4) A better understanding of what kind of college or university best fits your background, goals, and passion.
5) A more confident and prepared candidate ready to enter the search.
